Link issues — quick fixes and how to report broken links

Found a link that goes nowhere or returns an error on Desert Rose Daily? That’s annoying. Before you give up, try a few quick checks that often fix the problem in seconds. If those don’t work, we make it simple for you to tell us so we can fix it fast.

Quick fixes you can try

Reload the page (press F5 or Ctrl/Cmd+R). A temporary server hiccup or network blip often causes the error and a reload solves it.

Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5 on Windows, Shift+Reload on most browsers). This clears the cached copy and forces the browser to fetch the latest page.

Open the link in a different browser or in incognito/private mode. Browser extensions or cookies sometimes block pages. Incognito disables most extensions and helps rule that out.

Check the URL for obvious typos. Small mistakes — missing letters, doubled slashes, or extra characters at the end — break links. Also try removing or adding www, or switching http to https.

If it’s an external link, the target site might have moved or removed the page. Use Google search or paste the base site address to find the new location. For older content, try the Google Cache or the Wayback Machine to view an archived version.

How to report a link problem to Desert Rose Daily

If the link still won’t load, tell us exactly what happened so we can act. The fastest reports include: the page title, the broken link URL, a short note about what you saw (404, blank page, redirect loop), the date and time, and the device and browser you used.

Screenshots help a lot. If you can, attach a screenshot showing the URL bar and the error message. That saves us time and gets the fix to you faster.

Use our Contact page at mydesertrose.co.za/contact to send the details. Prefer email? Send the same info to [email protected]. We usually respond within 48 hours and aim to fix broken internal links quickly. For external links we’ll try to update or replace them when possible.

Why links break: short answer — stuff changes. Pages move, sites reorganize, and external sites sometimes go offline. Link shorteners or paywalled pages can also stop working without warning. We check outbound links on our end, but your report helps us catch things faster.

Want to help more? If you spot frequent link problems in a particular section, mention that section and a couple of example posts. That helps us find patterns and make broader fixes.

Thanks for helping keep Desert Rose Daily reliable. Reporting broken links makes the site better for everyone — and it only takes a minute.
